Privacy Policy

The Live Like Delaney Foundation ("we," "us," "our") is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Avon Lake, Ohio. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through livelikedelaney.org, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

Information you give us directly:

• Contact form (Contact Us page): your name, email address, the reason for reaching out, and your message.
• Share Your Story form (Live Like Delaney Stories page): your name, email address, and the story you submit.
• Newsletter signup (Laney's Light page): your email address.
• Donations (Donate page): your name, email address, billing address, and payment information, collected and processed through Squarespace's payment platform. We do not store your card details ourselves.
• Purchases (Delaney's Shop): your name, shipping address, email address, and payment information, collected and processed the same way, through Squarespace Commerce.

Information collected automatically:

• We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site (pages viewed, general location, device and browser type). Google Analytics uses cookies to do this. We do not use this information to identify you personally.
• If you choose a language other than English from the dropdown on our Home page, that preference is saved in your own browser (using a technology called local storage) so the site remembers it on your next visit. This preference is never sent to us and stays on your device.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information above to:

• Respond to messages and story submissions
• Process donations and purchases, and send receipts or confirmations
• Send our newsletter to people who sign up, and let you unsubscribe at any time
• Understand how our site is used so we can improve it
• Maintain the financial and program records a nonprofit is required to keep

3. Who We Share Information With

• FormSubmit.co: the Contact Us and Share Your Story forms are relayed through this third-party service, which emails the submission to us. FormSubmit does not retain your information after delivering it.
• Squarespace, Inc.: our website host and the platform behind our Commerce checkout and newsletter signup. Squarespace processes this information on our behalf and has its own privacy policy, available at squarespace.com/privacy.
• Google Analytics: as described above.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing purposes.

4. Children's Privacy

Our Kindness Kit Curriculum is designed for teachers and schools to use with students, not for children to access directly through our site. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, please contact us at board@livelikedelaney.org and we will remove it.

5. Cookies and Your Choices

Our site uses cookies from Google Analytics and from Squarespace's own platform (for things like remembering items in your cart). You can control or block cookies through your browser's settings. You can unsubscribe from our newsletter using the link in any email we send. You can ask us to delete a message or story you submitted by emailing us at board@livelikedelaney.org.

6. Data Retention and Security

We keep messages and submissions as long as needed to respond to them and for our own recordkeeping. Donation and purchase records are kept as required for our nonprofit's financial records. We rely on Squarespace's infrastructure and standard industry safeguards to protect your information, but no method of storage or transmission online is completely secure.

7. Where Your Information Is Processed

Our site is hosted in the United States, and information you provide is processed here, regardless of where you are visiting from.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
